This is an art trade I did with a good friend of mine laura. The original is framed in her possession.Done in the good tradition of Bookchasers 31/12 updates.
In 2008 we had - 5 stories of this original series. You can enjoy reading a preview of them here They got longer - as in actual page count - and longer as in time to do them. That is because in 2008 three major things happened
1. I got a part-time job. Because it was high time I got one and because I was getting sick of spending my days between school assignments and manga. I needed some threesome real action.
2. I got the chance to attend two major conventions. Otaku Festival 2008 and Nijikon 2008. Opening the door to other less know, less involved artists by founding in colaboration with laura the ad-hoc Artist Alley. I got to know a lot of people - I socialized a lot and went through experiences that would sum up for more than 3 years of involvment.
3. I got the chance to work and see my first volume of Bookchasers published - on paper. It made me feel extremely good, it made me dream on and support the saying that "if one has a will, one is definitely bound to find a WAY to make the dream come true." That is because I was lucky to know cip, a great guy who saw the Bookchasers vol1 go on paper.
In 2008 I got my bit of fame, my bit of mud throwing, a bit of dreams come true and got to think of new issues. I truly think that this whole convention-manga enterprise and job have changed me. I used to be moderately lost in doing things - solving real life problems. I used to be shy - and still am shy but somehow I managed to see a new side of me who - to a degree of horror resembles my mother's: bold and taking the lead whenever possible, or when noticing you're surrounded by underaged idiots who are clueless. I seem to have found a new past-time communicating things through mail - official, formal mails - both in English and in Romanian.
On this same day a year ago - according to the release records of Bookchasers archive which have proven their utility in the past - I was updating the final pages of Claims together with the bonus story of Claim 154. This year...well don't expect me to finish updating Heartless - even though I'm sort of sick of it by now. I am going to be putting up some extra pages instead.
Heartless Special New Year update
In 2009 sadly I'll have to say that the release rate will further drop - because of part time job and school. There are 3 stories left till the completion of volume2 and then - most likely- I'll go through the process of publishing yet another volume. Hope to make it better and try to market it better. Marketing and advertising are ones of the biggest issues at the moment.
Also - if I manage to get through with the deadline - I might be entering an international manga competition - the deadline is January 31st - with a new and exciting story about traditions and how folktales and legends are more than just myths. I am already 3 pages into this 16-18 pages adventure. Hope to make it. If I don't then - not all it's lost since I am trying to publish InBetween series as well and I needed a companion story - good written.
And now, after this long rambling - not my style on this blog - Happy New Year!
